Power of Attorney

A power of attorney is a written document granting an individual authorization to act in another’s place as agent or attorney-in-fact with respect to some or all personal and financial matters. In other words, the agent who is granted authority under a power of attorney may make decisions on behalf of the individual establishing the power of attorney. The scope and duration of authority is specified in the document and may be limited by statute in some states.
